Reply to @SuperDicq@minidisc.tokyo Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-29 18:10:25) @SuperDicq @sun PHP is the quintessential bodge it together until it works language. It may not be slop, but it is the source of most we slop ever created.

Reply to @sun@shitposter.world Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-29 17:31:16) @sun @test123 There's nothing especially bad in that FEP, so I'll make it compatible according to the FEP. Pleroma's Actor in-memory cache will hopefully do the heavy lifting of keeping the DB queries away.

Reply to @sun@shitposter.world Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-29 17:07:45) @sun @test123 Yeah, I've had a couple issues with that fep as well. It's not bad, but could be better.

Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-28 22:40:52) Similarly only employed people or those that own companies should be able to vote. Since those are almost the only people actually giving money to the economy and the government via taxes. As it currently stands, elections are basically: How can we get as much elderly voters as possible.

Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-28 20:38:12) >Here's a well written post why using LLMs to scan your code for issues is actually a good idea, especially now and in the future.
<Yeah, but LLM code quality sucks though. And you shouldn't use them for fixes anyway, as that introduces more issues.

How is it possible that infosec people are like that. Present them with the most agreeable and factual stance, and they will turn the argument into a "yeah, but actually no!"

Reply to @jonny@neuromatch.social Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-24 03:34:49) @jonny @sun I've read the whole blogpost hours before even replying here. There is nothing much to talk about as it mostly is fluff I've read and heard tens of times already with unfortunate facts sprinkled in.

The only point worth talking about is right at the end and that is their plans of enforcing said policy. And as I've expected, unless a project is visibly mostly vibecoded, the enforcement will come down to vibes. Which I expected as the policy isn't enforceable without being at least somewhat subjective. That said, I'm personally not a fan of rules/policies that cannot be enforced with near 100% accuracy. But it is their non-profit, their forge hosting, they are free to do whatever the members want.

At least the policy is defined and not completely vague unlike their blanket "crypto related projects" ban they even lie about in the banner that pops up when you are logged in today. If you wanted my opinion on this whole situation, that is it. Nothing more, nothing less. I have no comment on the part you quoted, simply because I mostly do not care about what it talks about.

Reply to @sun@shitposter.world Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-23 21:25:21) @sun @jonny @Codeberg Especially in the case of "add feature X to project Y that was refused with: No use case/We don't do that." If the project doesn't want it, might as well fork it, get an LLM to do most of the work and be done with it. Not like the changes will get upstreamed anyway, so code quality doesn't matter as much for a personal fork.

This case is where the "making a better world" argument falls apart, I get my feature I want and everyone else gets nothing (likely not even the patches).

Reply to @yonle@fedinet.waltuh.cyou Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-23 18:17:47) @yonle What I always found funny is that those people that complain about cryptocurrency and pow using too much energy never care about the fact that 80% of the sites they go on the Internet force TLS even though it doesn't need encryption. But suddenly wasting energy on encrypting random blog traffic is fine.

Reply to @yonle@fedinet.waltuh.cyou Phantasm@phnt@fluffytail.org (2026-07-23 18:12:26) @yonle Over the last years, every free software project seemingly went on its way to be as destructive to itself as possible.
