The future of AI is undoubtedly interesting...

Alviro Iskandar Setiawan@viro_ssfs@misskey.id (2026-08-20 08:14:08) Just checked the prices. Ethereum's rise of more than +18% is not something you regularly see daily. Gold follows the rally, trading above $4,500.

And as usual, DXY gets clobbered when risky assets climb hard, it's down -0.89% in the last 24h. This should give the rupiah room to breathe, but I doubt we will see USDIDR below Rp.17.000 anytime soon. ---Attachments--- image: https://obj.misskey.id/media/webpublic-7bc9cc46-d846-4851-ba0b-ace02caf1753.png

they all predicted how in the near future personal service robots would be as common in households as computers

this being a school library, these were old books. i never checked the dates on the books, but many of them described the HERO 1 as cutting-edge technology https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HERO_(robot)

anyway, that screenshot reads like some of the stuff i read in those books, but with bigger words and more poorly thought through concepts

As I mentioned in my post on the 2.0 anniversary, what you knew of as "3.0" had internally been slated to be the "2.1" bugfix release, to be soon followed by a 3.0 release based on the Collabra...

Reply to @moth_ball@shitposter.world Captain Comfy@Captain_Wet_Beard@poa.st (2026-08-20 07:05:27) @moth_ball @lain @mushroom_soup @Nudhul @sun It doesn't though, old books have weak spines so it's already trivial to scan them. The destruction is a concious choice for other reasons. I could see there being a tax write off purpose, but I doubt its the only one. Perhaps the destruction itself is seen as desirable to them.

cheeseburgerally :neocat_rainbow:@cheeseburgerally@plasmatrap.com boosted: @mei@donotsta.re (2026-06-13 21:10:21) Despite protests of the W3C, nightly versions of Google Chrome are currently shipping with new semantics for the JavaScript window.prompt API.

“Current best practices dictate that libraries such as React, or the more recent Florb.js, should be used to display modal dialogues,” the spokeperson explained. “As such, we are repurposing the prompt API for interfacing with Google Gemini for the Web, to ensure developer ergonomics of this new feature.”

When asked about compatibility with existing websites, Google dismissed the concerns. “Our analytics suggest that the current prompt API finds little use across the web. In the event that the user visits a website that still makes use of it, the language model will be used to generate the answer to the question being asked, improving usability of the website.”

“To accommodate legacy workflows, we will be shipping an official browser extension, available from the Chrome Web Store, which will allow the user to restore the old behavior of the API on a per-site basis.”
