accidentally sent my husband to hades: suggested he could drop in on German supermarket while over there. I forgor tomorrow is German holiday. he had to fight to get everything i had asked him to get. but he pulled through! :mugistrong:

The fact that free software can usually do 99% of things with a little frustration sometimes that you can do with proprietary while only using 0.0000000001% of the budget is proves how awfully inefficient proprietary software development is.

@iwillbite @sanek story porn got big mostly with a movie called "deep throat" that was so insanely popular that porn broke into mainstream discourse. later there was a movie called "debbie does dallas" that was famous because it had real production values. story porn was older than that but those two were really influential because they were good at it.

@iwillbite @sanek anyay I don't know if you want the discourse but older porn had nominal stories like "I'm a woman at home and I need a plumber and he's hot" and modern porn switched to a genre called gonzo which is basically just immediately do as much extreme stuff on camera as possible. the older stuff had charm because it was a real fantasy you could imagine yourself in

@SuperDicq @steph @sun it could potentially be better yes if the code was modifiable, and i had llms. I have been patching a lot of software to fix things or adapt things for myself (which is very easy with llms and something just too annoying to do without) and it's cool. But even with LLMs, I'd rather not have to do this. One of the driving forces towards me moving to the Apple ecosystem. FOSS programs largely suck!

Yup. When I visited a friend in Japan back in 2001, he had hooked up his computer to the TV and we both agreed that the computer's screensaver was more interesting than regular Japanese live-action television.
