Yup. When I visited a friend in Japan back in 2001, he had hooked up his computer to the TV and we both agreed that the computer's  screensaver was more interesting than regular Japanese live-action television.

@heavens_feel @caekislove @Phobos I wanted to watch some japanese tv to help me learn but they now encrypt the tv stream and you can't just buy a regular usb stick and watch tv on your fucking computer so I gave up
