@bananas @aetios I generally view pointers as a handle to an in-memory thingy the same way I treat a DB connection object as a handle to an in-database thingy; the implementation details matters less than what you can do with it

Yes in most¹ architectures that handle happens to be implemented as a plain integer (of the address) but making that distinction helps a lot with thinking about it, still

¹The real fun part happens when you start to consider execution models like ADI/MTE or CHERI where a pointer is implemented as a rich object, even at machine level

@aetios i wouldn't think of pointers as being integers in the general case tbh. they certainly can be if you need them to be, but it's probably an unhelpful way to think

the reason i asked was that you declare it as 'int array[]' so i thought maybe you are saying that array[] is an int (like array[] is an integer pointer) but no it just says that the array contains integers nothing more nothing less

Я наткнулся на очередной список "сто книг, которые вы обязаны прочитать", напичканный классикой, то есть, ничем не отличающийся от школьной программы прошлого века, и у меня сгорела жопа.
Давайте сделаем свой список. Сколько соберем. Предлагайте книги, короче! Которые, по-вашему мнению, должны прочесть как можно больше окружающих людей.
Никто не запретит вам десять раз внести "Преступление и наказание", но у меня тогда вновь сгорит жопа, а зачем вам это.

Апдейт: в районе понедельника соберу все имеющиеся предложения в кучку и добавлю свои. :pc_rizz:

shooting my shot into the wild despite low hopes

to put it quite bluntly does anyone want to make a game with me

i was thinking maybe of a rhythm game, been brainstorming for a short while, and also im here to do the art, even have an abysmally bad proof of concept (that lacks most of the stuff needed for a game in the first place) i just need someone who can code as my brain isnt wired for this type of knowledge at all, and i do not want to vibecode this thing

i dont wanna be too demanding or anything so keeping this post short, if you wanna hop on then hit me up. regarding engine or whatever - i'm not too knowledgeable, but since i too want to playtest and all that, godot seems like a common choice (though if not, don't worry, it's not even my department to decide on :3)

unfortunately no one is getting paid (myself included), as i want it to be a project to be made for fun and whimsy. and if it ever sees the public light, then for free and not necessarily push for distribution - just a fun thing made in spare time others can also enjoy. tldr no money will ever be involved here, which i think is important for many to know

Just saw MOTU (2026) & hated it as expected.😉

You've Got Mail (1998)& Little Women (2019) are ok but the earlier Sleepless in Seattle (1993) & Little Women (1933 & 1949) are better IMO.

Haven't seen the last one & doubt that I ever will. 🤷🏻‍♂️
