@bajax @7666 that's not what I mean. I just mean there's enough chinese people that speak chinese, enough chinese consumers, that learning chinese won't help as much as you'd think, they're not going to just let you in and treat you as an equal if you can speak their language.

if you want to hedge your bets, the safest/most useful language you can learn as an english speaker is probably chinese.
i have my issues with china just as I do the US, but with the scale they are able to operate from simple restaurants to complex manufacturing to the wholesale undermining and embarrassing of US AI companies (by just releasing competitive models for free), there is a lot in their favor in the coming decades.

@sun @kumicota @lain @rain True, so it may already be pretty much possible right now if you use the right tool. The issue is self-hosted vs free vs paid (with tokens) and stuff can get expensive

@sun might be to much political stuff (pro queer, anti llm, etc), but also lots of technical stuff. i followed her old account and it was also about content ideas/recommendations, what to look at. be it retro devices, new apple silicon stuff, self hosting, how to deal with explicit online hate she got, etc.
she likes gentoo so i approve everything she does no matter what it actually is.

@sun @kumicota @lain @rain it's already "good enough" for it in general, however the issue with translation is Japanese is very context heavy and the LLM will see things contextless
You CAN however clean up the text yourself, look up definitions, etc. and have some decentish product out of it. Obviously not perfect, but you can manage to make it entirely playable and in not too much of a bad shape
The Ladystalker (Snes) translation was most likely that. And then, someone on /vr/ on 4chan took the translation and fixes practically every single text formatting bug, on top of porting a better front from another game (Landstalker maybe?). All of this, again, with the LLM
