qr code payments are great with the caveat that:
- a banking app which requires a mainstream phone os and accompanying smartphone
- (if traveling abroad) ensure your bank has done the needful and partnered with whatever electronic payment networks exist in the country you’re in
- ensure you’re scanning the right qr code! but luckily this can be mitigated with various techniques (in person, confirm with merchant, online, check against transaction details)

@mia @scathach @navi have you done anything with smartcard lately? in the past literally all the smartcard middleware on windows was proprietary and vendor-supplied fucking garbage.

I have a usb smartcard reader for my macbook, I can use my japanese id smartcard to authenticate to government websites, it's so nice

@sun @scathach @navi mostly because nothing outside of enterprise uses them. hence browser vendors have no incentive to fix that

@WandererUber @lain I got really fucking sick and tired of being able to link things together in comfy that don't actually work together. so at that point why not just look at and write code (or get the llm to do it yeah)

@sun @lain It used to be that you'd lose the cutting edge speed improvements like new attention mechanisms and so on if you didn't stay up to speed on the literature, but I seriously doubt that comfy is delivering on that at this point

@lain @WandererUber yeah I kinda already ended up in "just write python code to do it" territory instead of mucking through comfyui dependency hell
