Apparently Mastodon despite it heavily normalizing AP, their databases are size comparable to Pleroma and possibly even bigger. Somewhat recently someone using Mastohost complained that after half a year of running the instance, the DB was already 40GB. So it's not just jsonb = bloat.

Calckey? Dead. Firefish? Dead. Iceshrimp? Dead.
Lots of them have unique modification that migrating back to Misskey are either hard or almost impossible.

So, I am planning to host a new instance. It will run on real hardware, not a vps, in my living room

I am struggling to decide the name.
I want the domain to not be something owned by companies in fascist countries because I don't want to risk the same thing that happened to autistici.org
I have been thinking maybe the domain shouldn't have raccoon in the name so that people can feel like the instance is not just for me.
The instance will be openly anti fascist and welcoming towards leftists, queers and people with disability.
I would appreciate suggestions.

@pwm @7666 there's a couple glitches on MacOS but totally acceptable for there to be one or two bugs in open source, that blows away every other FLOSS chat. It's better than Signal at this point both in UX and in actual security apparently.

@sun @7666 I have successfully operated deltachat off the same server and email address as my regular email. It works fine even in that somewhat gimped setup.
There is a single binary chatmail implementation based off the mail server I used for that (maddy)
