They love to complain about Rome tearing them five new assholes, but it took three civil wars, genocide of roman families and merchants before Rome had any sort of real presence in the region, and literally turning every settlement they had into little forts after mobilizing all their population against Rome to get there.
I'm pretty sure it was similar in Egypt too, since their behaviour has been consistent for as long as we have proper records.

The other jews aren't too different, they'd just rather have someone else do the genociding than risk themselves doing it. This sometimes leads to civil/religious wars, which has been a staple of judaism for as long as it has existed.
