@sun @mikemccaffrey It really shows in 1.13 and newer versions. Pillagers and related are the most useless mobs ever, while being very annoying. Phantoms are just there to annoy you to bed and nothing else. Raids serve no purpose other than to annoy you. The cave generation is so bad and boring since 1.18, it is unbelievable. Villager trading got so overpowered to the point of being able to skip most of the game with it, which got nerfed later for obvious reasons.

But hey, at least it has foxes now, which I had in Mo' Creatures in 1.2.5 Technic Pack.

>This video is an interesting compilation of mistakes that #mojang has made over the years. Some I've heard before and some that were totally new to me.

Oh, they've made many over the years and while I don't really have the patience to watch an hour long video about them, I can list a few:
Completely non-transparent rule/EULA enforcement for 3rd party servers (most of them on Java). Mojang/Microsoft will randomly block servers without giving any reason, making following the EULA a guessing game
Gambling with real money and pay-to-win mechanics on servers are prevalent despite being prohibited by the EULA (seldomly enforced)
The official server JAR file was/is always useless, leading to creation of a modified one called Bukkit. Mojang (under Notch) acquired that project without telling anybody, later added a "no pay-to-win" clause to the EULA which lead to the main developer trying to take the project down. Which lead Mojang on a "we actually own it" spree, which lead to multiple DMCA takedown requests sent to them from the various contributors to Bukkit throughout the time. This drama is the main reason why Notch sold Mojang to Microsoft and why Spigot/PaperMC are a thing to this day (Spigot is a Bukkit fork and PaperMC a Spigot fork).
Recently the community felt cheated for voting on the new mobs (Phantoms I mentioned above), getting it hyped up and in the end it being a useless mob and waste of votes.

It does have some very nice scenery, I will give it that, yes. The main issue is what it did in the background. Now caves are vast areas filled with mostly air and minimal loot. It doesn't reward you for exploring much. And on a related note, since ores have a different generation chance (lower) while being surrounded by air on any side, you aren't rewarded with more ores either.

Meanwhile previously caves were much smaller and mostly small "veins"
