Here's a good channel to learn Penang Hokkien, which traces it's roots to the Minan language from Zhangzhou, Fujian.:
It's not as popular as Mandarin or even Cantonese, but it's arguably even harder master than Mandarin because:
Tones (5–8 vs. 4): Mandarin has 4 tones; Hokkien has 5–8 depending on the dialect, plus tone sandhi—every tone changes depending on where it sits in a sentence.
· Pronunciation: Hokkien has nasalized vowels and final consonants (-p, -t, -k, -h) that Mandarin completely lacks. Many sounds also don't exist in English.
· Writing system: There's no standard romanization (multiple systems exist) and no official character set. Most written Hokkien uses Mandarin characters, but many everyday words have no standard characters, so people invent them or use romanization.
· Resources: Mandarin has millions of learners, apps, textbooks, and media. Hokkien resources are sparse and often inconsistent.
· Mutual unintelligibility: Even within Hokkien, dialects vary wildly by region (e.g., Quanzhou vs. Zhangzhou vs. Taiwanese).
And the Zhangzhou dialect has a wildly different accent compared to its cousins.
(I always joke to people to saying that my Hokkien has a British accent while everyone else has a Southern accent)
So if you like a challenge…😝
Ps: I speak Penang Hokkien; it's my first Chinese language. I learnt Mandarin when I was a kid and my family doesn't speak it

Yes, yes! Let's tell the myths and legends of other countries more! Can't wait for the Ramayana epic. Also, Hans Zimmer co-wrote the soundtrack?? So awesome!
The tale of the Ramayana is one of the oldest in the world. I am glad that it is getting epic treatment.
PS: Must watch this in Tamil!
