@icedquinn if I ever have kids (which has become vanishingly unlikely) I will teach them early that when people want you to do things it usually is a vehicle to benefit them at your expense.

I realize this is contradictory to what I just stated, that society needs trust and selflessness. but you can't fight the tide

@sun feudal lords get a lot of shit in the books but the funny part is humans are basically wired to outsource thinking to authority. and there are many books and internal writings from kings about being somewhat bothered by the cognitive load holding the tribe together actually was. Meditations was never written for our benefit.

its weird to quantify because you have more rights on paper now but you have less social welfare in practice. the concept that "your child will just be born and ejected as a pauper" was considered like, grossly negligent in the guild era.
