I'd like to do a PhD in CS but as far as I can tell there's close to 0 funding for someone who just wants to focus on networking, cryptography, and distributed systems without any monads or tensors in sight

@genmaicha I have a specific thing I want to build that'll take years and require a huge amount of research and a PhD would in theory be a good way to do it
