speaking from personal experience, both cutting ties and having no "relationship" with anyone is like both heaven and hell.

no one is going to come at you and do something to you even if you didnt reply their messages for years

like literally, you are allowed to live by yourself with your own world

this been a paradise to me, where I can just decide if I want to reply or not. not having to think "what will happen to me tomorrow if I dont reply this asap"
