@ganbold@sns1.hydranlab.com I was trying to make a "pure" form of Bahasa Indonesia with no loan word. Which funnily enough both Bahasa and Indonesia are loan words

---Reply--- underproofed ganbold@ganbold (2026-09-04 17:10:53) that sounds so fun! anything I could read to get the gist of it?

I am assuming bahasa and indonesia are melayu? does melayu, like, a "pure" language? SEA and Oceania are interesting like close (distance) yet far (language, culture)

@ganbold@sns1.hydranlab.com When I said "pure" is in the sense linguistic purism. You might've heard of Anglish, which is English with only Germanic-rooted words.

I'm trying to do the same for Bahasa Indonesia, by only using Austronesian derived words. By first using existing words in Indonesia/Melayu. If there isn't one I look into sister languages for an equivalent words, from the closest Malayo-Polynesian to the bigger Austronesian.

Actually, Bahasa is from Sanskrit ^1 and Indonesia from Dutch ^2
