@gabriel @lain they all owe their career to virality algorithms, I don't think any of these outlets has even considered the fact that without them they would just be friends here and there sending links to their videos to each other instead of being firehosed to millions. not saying they're not popular but all the shit they say they hate about algorithmic feed is the only reason they're at their scale they are

This is why I want public broadcasters like the CBC to provide a (fedi like) platform for citizens.
Until such a thing happens I'm going to assume all the talk of "digital democracy" is full of it.
But they'll never do it because the whole point is to use corporations as puppets to violate civil rights.

@gabriel @lain have you ever stopped to think about how, if the radio spectrum was really "in the public trust for the public interest" would radios really be playing fucking garbage on loop nonstop and radio and tv filled with garbage tv shows made by giant corporations for the only purpose to shove ads in our faces for profit? and these companies all bid for the privilege to the government? because to me that sure sounds like the government is just using it as a moneymaking scheme selling its citizens to drug dealers.
