ofc the point was lack of quality, and the fact this whole redesign is hidden behind a feature flag is honestly raising even more questions of how their development process looks like…

during the last massive ui garbage fire everyone complained it couldn't be feature flagged, because that meant they had to do development on a separate branch, which meant nobody tested it. so now they are careful to make this stuff gateable by flags.
it does not seem to have occurred to them to stop fucking up the user interface, which would remove the need for either approach.
