“We know that in peatlands, almost 100 per cent (of the fires) was caused by human activity.”
Peat ecosystems are dense layers of partially decomposed organic materials that are normally waterlogged. But in much of Indonesia they have been dried out so the land can be planted. This created highly flammable regions.
Once peat catches fire, it can smoulder and reignite for days, making firefighting efforts complex.
In the first eight months of this year, over 212,000 hotspots have been detected inside peat ecosystems across the country, according to NGO Pantau Gambut.”

In California we get wildfires. In Singapore we get poor air quality blown over the sea from a neighboring country.
(To be clear, from Singapore-listed resources companies that are exploiting the hell out of the environment in Indonesia and elsewhere. All of this is related to palm oil)

Meta’s AI agent Muse gives out user’s home address without permission, sending buyer to his house
"When Usman asked if a keyboard for sale on Facebook Marketplace was still available on Saturday, he received an enthusiastic and immediate response.
“Yep still available!” wrote Matt Robb.
The two agreed on a price, and Robb sent his Toronto address. Usman, wife and daughter in tow, showed up several hours later at Robb’s home and sent a text that he had arrived.
Robb responded, “yep I’m here!”, but he was not at home. Nobody walked out of the apartment building.
Usman had not contacted the real Robb. Throughout the daylong interaction, the human version of Robb never knew Usman had messaged him or had agreed to buy the keyboard. He did not know Usman had received his address or that he was waiting outside his apartment building.
Usman had spoken to Meta’s new AI agent, Muse, released 22 September in the US and downloaded 3m times. The company advertises the semi-autonomous AI product as a personal assistant.
Without Robb’s consent or approval, Muse had given out his home address, creating the false impression that Robb was expecting the would-be buyer at his apartment, he said."

just recently I learnt that a lot of animation accounts on meta, and of course they created the community on discord. I just wish there is an equivalent community on fedi so I could do both.

But well there's just way too many tartans and almost all of them follow the same basic patterns (I think mostly to make them easy to make in pre-industrial era, and the tradition remained).

I'm just going to say it: these aren't companies. Companies don't lose $42 billion dollars in a year without going bankrupt. I don't know what the "AI companies" are, but I won't even concede them the name "company" anymore.
