@7666 I use chatgpt terra for basic stuff and bump it up to sol for things that can't be fucked up, then Astra now for problems where I don't totally even understand the data or problem yet, to help me figure it out.

i have been saying this for a long ass time. opus 4.8 class models are completely sufficient for paired programming and automated functions for 99.99% of use cases and these new models only benefit thinking on extremely complicated (like PhD tier) problems.
the capabilities of most last gen frontier models were enough to basically accelerate and assist me with just about any task I felt comfortable offloading *with me still being in the driver's seat of what i am trying to do*.
i guess these newer models are really only showing meaningful gains for losers who just slop out 40 billion lines of code a day and deal with pure vibe coded architectures that they don't understand and that are bloated to all hell.

Setelah beberapa hari lalu Misskey.ID mengalami penurunan performa server, disaat yang sama teman-teman dari GNU/Weeb reach out untuk memberikan bantuan dan dukungan agar Misskey.ID dapat berjalan lancar seperti sebelumnya.
Dengan demikian, server Misskey.ID saat ini menumpang sesaat bersama GNU/Weeb untuk beberapa bulan ke depan sembari memperbaiki kondisi pemasukan pribadi sekaligus pelan-pelan membangun alur keuangan yang bagus khusus untuk Misskey.ID ke depannya.

Certainly true several months ago, and probably true today (more so from an ideological than a technical pov).
I feel the way out of this mess though is through this. If we "run at home" LLMs are competitive with hosted ones, then when the bubble bursts and big tech must hike their prices, not even the people most convinced will want to use them anymore.

Absolutely. I am 100% with you that free software should not be beholden to big tech. Unfortunately "open source" was always a ploy to get big tech to embrace free software, and so depending on why you are here, you might not care as much. ("You" as in the hypothetical open source developer, not you personally)

Matrix is objectively shit compared to XMPP if your use-case is based on E2EE and maintaining a low profile. If you want to use a glorified chat protocol, sure.

@sam @theorytoe i dont know. matrix is far better than XMPP definitely, but still not up to par with discord. Discord already developed too many features that'll most likely never be implemented on other platforms, and people on here already made posts pointing out why no one that uses discord regularly would move to anything that doesn't copy it well or is at least reliable. FOSS devs don't have the ability to develop an alternative.
