A Girdle Book, a portable style of medieval book featuring an extended leather cover that allowed it to be hung from a belt or girdle. The leather binding extends past the edges of the book and finishes in a knot or tail, letting owners carry it hands-free. Popular among clergy and affluent travelers for private daily devotion.
