I put a bunch of work into trying to keep electrical noise out of my audio equipment and now for no reason at all, all light switches in the house make a pop in my sound system

@sun is your house grounded? it’s a common issue in Japan 
you might want to consider having a fully digital section before you switch to analog and/or use optical cables (as a guess)

@toast yeah I ran a ground wire from my mixer and monitor to the air conditioner ground like a month ago
