@sun I think that kid had the right idea: hit back and get in trouble, so what? His refusal to play cynical games with rules and stand up for himself probably helped him more in life than my way did.

All I'd add is that, to not look stupid, your kid should also explain that he'd just rather get in trouble than play the teacher's little game.

@apropos my spouse and I have pretty different ideas about how to deal with these things but I was bullied and she was not
