the issue with all the claims of a platform having a child porn problem is that showing the direct evidence in context is, conveniently, impossible. except when it isn't. any concrete info on what bad stuff was happening on tumblr that got it in trouble is welcome because nobody ever shared much hard evidence in that regard.

throughout the previous decade i would see drive-by kiddie porn ad-links every now and then in imageboard land, and every other week there'd be a complete takedown of a new terrorgram kiddie porn blackmail supergroup, but in all those years i never saw a hint of anything like that on tumblr. even the supposed big networks were too whack-a-mole to see.

anyway funny how i can download telegram to my phone and give it my phone number and become a third world pedophile king on it while tumblr had to kill the woke sex gifs only to see their cultural relevance + usercount evaporate instantly

@WALFTEAM @sun I recall a post about this from an ex-staff member who basically talked about how Apple would single out one example of a thing they didn't like and pull the app, and that last time was the one time they refused to reinstate it after pulling the examples of shit they found.

@sendpaws @sun I remember that post too. It was either clueless or diplomatic or both, but it did make it kinda clear that the decision-making process behind who gets to have an app store app is just fully fake and we have irreversibly accepted this as a society.
