@hakui @sun there's a study that shows increasing punishment for crimes doesn't reduce crime, imo because criminals don't understand causality and can't think temporally

@rees @hakui yeah I have heard that about the death penalty specifically, the only value of the death penalty is the offender can no longer offend.

Yeah, the death penalty should just get phased out. It also doesn't help that every time I see someone arguing in favor of it it just comes across as sadism to me, but that's just my perspective.
