@kaia he's a shitty person in a lot of ways and obviously he's the richest person in human history but you can still feel sad for him as a human

@sun @kaia I always compare our current crop of techillionaires with Bill Gates and wonder what particular demons or closet skeletons prevented them from doing what Bill did - 30 years of iterating on success, confident in their abilities, then retiring into philanthropy.

Bill obviously was / is no shining beacon or much of a role model either, but he keeps being the closest to "normal" and "sane" of all of his peers.

@pingviini @kaia I think most of the tech people are in fact not as sick and fucked up as old money people and finance people and entertainment industry people. even if a bunch of them come from rich stanford families, they just aren't in the same tier of evil
