@condret @civodul @boud llm acceptance is actually inevitable even if people hate that fact, sorry for confronting reality. that doesn't mean it's inevitable they'll be used for everything or should be used for everything but you can run them on a gpu, if you think they're going to go away you're just an obvious fucking idiot.

@mrsaturday @boud @civodul @condret also like, who is the extremist? the person who says I'll use it if it's useful or the person who says it's going to destroy the universe if it's not stopped and if you use it in any way fuck you die

@mrsaturday @sun You guys surely heard about these concepts called “climate emergency” and “society”, right?

If one thing it’s inevitable and needs to be confronted, it’s these.

(Anyway, glad you were not scared of being caught in a witch hunt!)

@mrsaturday@shitposter.world @boud@framapiaf.org @condret@shitposter.world @sun@shitposter.world @civodul@toot.aquilenet.fr Asbestos applied as a fire retardant. The criterion "never used again" is setup for a motte-and-bailey fallacy. But asbestos is a reasonably close example. The history of technological progress is full of other examples if one is willing to read rather than push a favored ideology.
