@6EQUJ5 so i'm going to have a better solution and it's already cheaper than airtable by like $20 a year and it's user friendly enough for everyone, not just the airtable wizard to use

@shibao @6EQUJ5 oh god one of my clients uses airtable and that shit is so fucking bad, christ
bad enough to make me reverse engineer the binary protocol their web frontend uses, which btw is CPU-bottlenecked even on a 10-core zen 5. the public API is poorly documented and too limited to do fuck all (especially with non-owner access level)
san francisco needs to be nuked until it glows

@shibao @6EQUJ5 re gamification, i think a useful metaphor when designing UI is leaving bits of “cheese” everywhere to guide the workflow. like “this page is empty, do this to get started, heres what the result might look like” is a simple example. show the reward and how to get it.

i ilked nocodb until they took VC money. grist has always been honest about VC (no sso tax, either, but its still carved vc-ware.)
grist is somewhat neat architecturally since its running like micropython for the formulas and storing in sqlite. it's a lot more like "spreadsheet but big," for whatever thats worth.
