learning some cities in germany are removing green areas that help reduce the heatwave so they can fit more car parking

@brettm its hard to imagine green having any sway whatsoever in the bundestag so i hadn't even considered that. the political landscape currently is dire.

@brettm i guess i have a perspective issue because the nuclear disaster near where i lived was as bad as the reactor issue in chernobyl but the safety features made it negligible. i would see nuclear reactors every morning on my drive to work. i just don't get the fear that the green party was founded on emotionally.

@brettm also another important part is that germany just hasn't transitioned to 100% clean energy. so it doesn't really matter if it could, they still cut a large source of non-fossil fuel energy with no backup plan. i have trouble believing this was all 'for the good' and a net positive when we still burn coal and lignite in germany.

@ezri i do not understand this part of german culture whatsoever
