computer witch in a professional software/linux/embedded engineer's clothing - i live in maryland and bend old computers to my will - polyamorous, vaguely relationship anarchist, very gay - sometimes i make music as 'ersatz waterfall' - not a tech-only account, i'm just a computer addict - intel 80286 enthusiast

i am an operating systems nerd. i regularly use Gentoo, FreeBSD, and NetBSD on desktop, NetBSD and Alpine Linux on server, and sometimes Haiku and other things. i also use many old operating systems, including IRIX and Novell NetWare.

i make an effort to put alt text on all my image posts, but alt text seems to break sometimes on misskey.

follow requests invoke a vibe check. if you're cool i'll probably accept. unless i already follow you, then they're automatically accepted. if you're cool and you didn't get accepted, dm me, it may have just gotten lost

linear cannon@linear@nya.social (2026-07-22 23:59:10) krunner, and the kde launchers, etc, really could be better in the input lag department.

this computer is about as fast as they get. i type at about 150wpm. i am getting really, really tired of typing "signal" and instead having "steam" open instead because it's what was at the top, because it hadn't finished processing my input yet, and had only gotten as far as the "s".
