@koakuma pick two of three; having all three constraints means only rigorous self discipline and focus can get you there

@koakuma this post comes with a grain of salt because i've never actually managed to do it but my understanding comes down to: you need a reliable way to motivate yourself. If you are not capable of building and maintaining habits and having long term motivation, it is not going to work.

That motivation can be intrinsic (your brain gets tickled by grammar, etymology fascinates you, etc) or extrinsic (you have a media you want to discover in that language, you have friends who speak said language, etc). The former source is brittle, because your needs and goals will shift as you move along (from, e.g., learning characters to learning words to making sentences; you might find it stimulating to learn vocabulary for the sake of it but extremely boring to make sentences and dialog alone).

The latter group (extrinsic) inevitably runs against the "you did it alone" constraint. Eventually, if you get comfortable enough in a language, it''s gonna feel weird to keep practicing it alone. Without anyone to give you feedback you absolutely risk learning in a "crooked" way (not an idiom; i made that expression up) with quirks and blind spots and missing skills that someone who expresses themselves in the language knows about but that you don't, because you're just doing it alone.

And if you can't start building habits in the first place anyway because of any neurodivergence or your life situation being unstable well, either you overcompensate for it and hope you can keep it up or you're most likely toast already.
