I tried image enhancement with SeedVR2, which was recommended by Claude.

it's good, but with small input sizes it can lead to artifacting, making things up.

I had it write a bash wrapper so I can run it on individual images and also get compressed result besides the uncompressed 10MB target.

I tested AVIF against WEBP and from compression ratio, they were apparently the same

src size 13542434 mode RGB (2048, 3146)
AVIF  {'quality': 60} -> 0.74 MB  in 0.67s  ratio 18x
AVIF  {'quality': 60, 'speed': 4} -> 0.73 MB  in 3.54s  ratio 19x
WEBP  {'quality': 60, 'method': 6} -> 0.71 MB  in 1.22s  ratio 19x
WEBP  {'quality': 60, 'method': 4} -> 0.77 MB  in 0.52s  ratio 18x

PleroFe made converted it again to WebP.

here's input & result of Princesse Joséphine Charlotte. I'll make some of family pictures and show mum in law to evaluate.

@kaiaskutes you could also try upscaling / fixing with qwen image 2.1, it has a very good edit mode that is probably abl eto do this.
