This side of the fedi is dying for the exact same reason bluesky has no engagement. 

You can only write nigger and Jews so many times until it becomes stale 

there is a reason I have a reddit account and despite it being populated with mostly communist NPC's you can find a subreddit about just about anything. 

Here if I wanna talk about some hobbies I might get a like if I go to a subreddit about said hobby I can get a lot more digital dopamine for my troubles

@EllisDee Yea, I use Reddit for info all the time. I don’t post there though. Even in the subs I’m interested the comments, beyond like product reviews, are pretty bad generally.

@john_darksoul @EllisDee it's not even possible for me to post on reddit. I link a study or source for something and then I get downvoted to oblivion with dozens of people calling me a midwit or retard without ever engaging in an argument. atleast on fedi even if I get jumped on by 15 retards they can't suppress what I say by downvoting me
