I feel like people who use the 'once the toothpaste is out of the tub, you can't put it back' metaphor never actually tried to do it - all you have to do is put the toothpaste in your mouth and reverse-suck it back into the tub.

@p i know a person that after breaking a tooth just glued it back into place with a kropelka and kept going

dentists hate it when you figure out you can do this
