trying Reedsy Studio. it is nice for making novel, i guess. but i need something suitable for making school books

anyway for something like this (but more general) perhaps see Tintero or Manuskript

manuskript is open source but the last time ivy used it, it was rather unstable
tintero ivy hasn't used as much as manuskript but it didn't crash and burn as often

or novelWriter (trees and feeling more like a native app; felt like it had a bit too many bells and whistles)

they all let you turn off the more novel-writer-oriented features (even the one that literally has novel writer in its name)
