most useful stuff i can think of off top of my head would be like

iie, daijoubu desu / hai onegaishimasu (when offered something, like a bag)

gochisousama desu (when leaving a restaurant OR when asking for the bill)

sumimasen, toire doko (where is the toilet)

kore/__noun__, onegaishimasu (this [thing im pointing at]/ noun, please)

biiru okawari onegaishimasu (i'd like another beer)
