@cjd @sun they can reuse parts of existing things and recombine them by pattern matching. which is fine, i guess, but it's not new.

I mean, can you say it without going into theological beliefs that are not scientifically testable?
I'd say at least a quarter of the population is disappointingly similar to an LLM - even one from a couple years ago... And even Nicola Tesla was haunted by the possibility that he might just be a biological automaton...
If you ask me if I'm more than a very evolved biological machine, Occam's Razor says no. So what's the difference with an LLM? It's just structured a bit differently - and if and when we have a better understanding of the human brain, we'll probably have LLMs that are structured exactly the same...

@cjd @bonifartius I feel like at this point it's been definitively proven that you don't need reasoning to explain/simulate much of basic human interaction, I mean like with literally no reasoning at all. humans reason, if you add a bit of reasoning then you could fully explain behavior that avoids ridiculous llm hallucination behavior, and I suspect now this is how people really work, I would be very interested in a neurological proof of this though.
