@brettm yeah did more testing, i dont think firefox has to do with it 

going to a repository from your link triggers the small challenge, this one is also fast for me. going to a commit or an file/folder in the tree triggers the other difficult one

@aei@pleroma.envs.net ohhh yeah i went to  https://git.sr.ht/~bzg/org-mode/tree/main/item/etc and got a '20' challenge i stopped counting after 30 seconds. gulp.
