Expect quite a bit of hornyposting and self-hatred (CW'd). If those aren't your thing, make sure you have word mutes set up, or just don't follow me

AENS System (usually November)@aens@transfem.social (2026-09-01 01:03:48) Okay, so what's to stop a big company from taking GPL-licensed code and:
- Rewriting it with an LLM
- Just kinda ignoring the license and using it on an embedded device where it's really hard to even get at the code running to see that it's being used
- Technically making the source code available but making it extremely impractical to actually access it
- Using it for a bunch of internal stuff
- Just flagrantly violating the license and figuring they have lawyers and you don't

Like, IDK, I really don't see how the GPL is fundamentally going to stop big companies from using open-source software without contributing to open-source. Meanwhile it definitely stops smaller companies and even just other open-source devs that just prefer different licenses. Am I missing something?

AENS System (usually November)@aens@transfem.social (2026-07-29 19:22:06) I want hugs so bad

AENS System (usually November)@aens@transfem.social (2026-07-29 01:42:06) Last night I wrote up an example of the most extreme thing I would probably consent to having done to me, this morning I'll go for something a bit more practical, especially considering our other members.

Before I move in I agree to be owned. This means I can't leave unless you choose to loan me out or give me to someone else, and that you can override my consent whenever you want. In practice though, the latter power is basically just used to stop me from doing things that are bad for me/make me take care of myself, to force me into cuddles when I'm in the middle of something else, and to tease me about what you could do.

Gradually I'm made into more of a docile, obedient pet. In part this is through hypnosis, and in part through giving me treats (fish) for being docile and doing what you tell me to. In the summer and winter when it's too hot or too cold for me to go outside anyway, sometimes this can go to the point of making me not really able to go outside anyway (no speech, only meows; only walking on all fours; experimenting with semi-permanent kink gear, stuff like that). Other members can still go outside, I just can't.

There's also a gentle but steady push for me to try new things and experiment more with kinks. Plus you have a list of things you have my irrevocable consent for, and while you aren't exactly forcing me to add more things to that list and remove conditions from what's already on that list, you sure reward me if I do.

AENS System (usually November)@aens@transfem.social (2026-07-25 01:50:33) If someone is in a bad place mentally, and talking about it, you can:
a) Provide emotional support.
b) Provide lower-level support (hugs and some warm tea for example, but no talking about problems).
c) Tell them you're not in a position to provide support (one on one) or just move on (public).
Those are the only options that don't make you an asshole.

Telling them to get better is not providing support.
Lecturing about the long-term consequences of an unhealthy coping mechanism is not providing support.
Spamming suicide hotline links is not providing support. (Also most of those are shitty and will call the cops on people)
Telling someone to get therapy is not providing support. (If it was easy they'd already be doing it.)

If you get overwhelmed because you never set boundaries on how much support you could provide, that is your fault, not theirs.
Letting yourself get overwhelmed is bad for the person you were trying to support, too.
It's the responsibility of people who are doing bad to ensure MH- posts are properly CW'd (or whatever is appropriate for the relevant platform), and to ask before going into things in DMs, but if they do that they are in no way at fault for others getting overwhelmed.

AENS System (usually November)@aens@transfem.social (2026-07-21 09:08:08) There was a person at the restaurant we went to who was talking about threatening to get rid of all their toddler’s toys if they don’t clean them up and then after that was mocking her kid for being stupid and it triggered me a lot. Thankfully my partners were there to help calm me down and keep me from getting too scared

AENS System (usually November)@aens@transfem.social (2026-05-31 17:09:01) So, a bunch of new people followed me, time to see how many of them stick around after I get into my controversial views:
Not CWing politics should be a ban/defed worthy offense on Fedi
The FSF sucks. Not only is Stallman evil, but free software absolutism over free software accessibility has heavily set back people actually moving away from more corporate systems. I have my own system I came up with, btw.
We use a lot of proprietary software, including iOS and MacOS, and do not have short-term plans to move fully off that.
I'm not an anarchist or a communist, though I'm also not a fan of hierarchies where avoidable and I'm not a fan of capitalism. I have my own system here, too.
We are a plural system with an age-regressed member, Sierra, who uses this account fairly normally.
It's okay if you don't hold the same beliefs, but if you're gonna get mad at me over them, just unfollow now
