🤦‍♂️ You can't make this stuff up. They are pulling some McCarthyism bullshit now while also doing exactly what they are warning against.

OpenAI itself released open-weight models (gpt-oss-120b and gpt-oss-20b) in August 2025 under Apache 2.0.

Open weights are framed positively when OpenAI does it (developer access, data residency, fine tuning freedom) but as dystopian when Chinese competitors do it at lower prices.
