The Netherlands’ public broadcaster AVROTROS has announced it will boycott the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, saying the event can no longer be considered neutral amid divisions over Israel’s participation and the genocide in the Gaza Strip.

AVROTROS Director-General Taco Zimmerman said international conflicts are increasingly affecting Eurovision and turning it into a “platform for division.”

The decision comes after five countries, the Netherlands, Iceland, Spain, Ireland and Slovenia, boycotted the 2026 contest over Israel’s participation.
