i've wanted to document board game engine search techniques and collect my thoughts on a website
this is because knowledge of SOTA engine tech is within the minds of a few dozen active engine developers
but we've also seen the advent of slop-generated engines as well
i have posted some of my thoughts of LLM use in the chess engine space here: https://lobste.rs/s/3d3wbr/born_against_why_hobby_programming#c_dxh99b
this intent to document the engine space was made before LLMs became a real thing in the space, mostly because i fear knowledge getting lost
before you suggest CPW, the chess programming wiki is out of date, and i do not have edit access (and the current new owners (lichess) still haven't decided on editing)
i am torn between wanting to document knowledge for future generations but also fear making it more accessible to current LLM scrapers. i have historically always been a proponent of open access to knowledge, but modern scraping makes it feel like i am doing work for free while simultaneously damaging the field i am trying to save.
i don't know anymore.
