Well that was... something... I decided to do some preparations to make the next sewing project. And oh boy what did I get myself into. :neobun_llenn_sweat:
I will make a dress this time. A nice JSK from Otome no Sewing again. This time a very old Issue. Number two. What it looked like in the magazine you can see in the first image.
I thought it might be a good idea to learn new skills again for sewing. So far I did buy the patterns for the stuff from the Otome no Sewing Books from a pattern-service. Basically a service that would make the pattern with the measures provided in the magazine.
I thought why not try it myself for a change? (although I technically did already buy the pattern from the service)
Did some research for a CAD-program to make sewing patterns with. Came across an article that presents some programs. Most paid but also a free and open-source: Seamly2D!
And good god. While you can make the pattern pieces more or less easy. Like putting stuff in is fine but could be so much better when it would be more intuitive/user friendly.
The program infuriated me! Like imagine you wanna make a basic shape consisting of some edges and points. Easy enough use the Line-Tool. But why the hell is the tool deselected EVERY TIME after I made 1 Edge. Wanna make more edges? Reselect the tool EACH AND EVERY TIME!
How to waste time... I guess they really want you to learn the shortcuts... Maybe its also case of RTFM? Program works but is frustrating to use. I won't talk about everything... but the layout tool is utter trash. Like it exists. It just throws your pieces on the paper HOWEVER. People generally tell you to not use it. Rather export the layout as a PDF and go from there.
Made the pattern after some frustrations with magazine itself. They somehow made the measurements a little hard to figure out. But maybe that since its an old magazine. Most stuff should be correct. The two pieces with curves I hope will be good.
But oh my I would fight even more

Hey, if you don't need to, please don't use Revolut. I have had such a bad experience with them. I'm waiting on appeal, but, literally every single time I tried to transfer money from my other accounts they tried to make it as difficult as possible and asked for so many documents to try to prove it, and then, I messed up and submitted a wrong document, and they closed my damn account!!! I'm literally just trying to move my own money!!! I have never had such a bad experience with any other finance app. This is ridiculous.

I have been in Yogyakarta for 4 days, and now the event that made me change my mind and get inspired even more to contribute at #openSUSE (openSUSE.Asia Summit 2026) or #oSAS at UIN Sunan Kalijaga is finally concluded. I have so much activities on the event both the first day (at my third day at Yogyakarta) and second day (at my forth day at Yogyakarta). Even I can connect with the people even more in this event.
Thanks to speaker folks that represent SUSE, any other speakers, and sponsors (I can only tag those who had appeared on the Fediverse in the CC below). And also, thanks to @jaybaeta who have coming to the event as participant to learn more about open source world.
