hi folks. I just got a job recently and have no savings, I've also been couch-surfing since early August. In the early 1970s, most folks could do some mental arithmetic. They had to. The arrival of pocket calculators quickly reduced most people's ability to do "math" in their heads.
Ditto with Google Maps: people can't navigate without it. A recent study of Polish radiologists using LLMs to assist showed a measurable drop in the doctor's own ability to diagnose without them
LLMs will have that effect on programmers' ability to code.
More broadly: for people to be able to think for themselves.

Soo, sigh, I was dismissed yesterday from a relatively new job just before I could deploy a huge application, citing my lack of AI coding use
It was during my probationary period so it seems like they could have dismissed me for just about anything
Anyway now looking to get #fedihired I'm a senior .NET and JavaScript developer who has worked with almost every popular framework/library in both of those ecosystems in a professional environment
I have also used Python to write simulations of nuclear reactors and have worked with bioinformatics software
I have even once single-handedly and successfully defended a project to the Cabinet Office of the United Kingdom
I have also done quite a bit of personal and open source work with rust
Free to start immediately, I was thankfully paid 1 month salary in lieu of notice
