@pwm @georgia @subnetter yeah and I am not even implying these people are just "dumb" or something, I have met a ton of people in my life that I KNOW are not "dumb" but they absolutely are not even trying to meet their obvious (even if "modest") potential. It's disheartening.

@kernow @georgia @subnetter I ran some numbers for it and even at the absolute peak of relative buying power of minimum wage (1968) it didn't reach national median home prices. in effect if you bought a house on only minimum wage income, it was only possible in certain areas and a particularly cheap house. This is of course improved situationally if you are a dual-income minimum wage earner household. this was also again at the absolute peak, if you go start going earlier, it becomes unaffordable again.
I am not denying your experience though you can find lots of people that did it but it was never true generally on a national scale it seems.

in open farm game now, you can opt-in let your neighbors harvest and sell your damaged crops for a 50-50 percent split. I am considering extending this to "about to be damged" crops too, looking for suggestions.
but you can enable this today in the game settings.

somehow I let all my crops get damaged. I think I might add a mechanic where if your crops are about to die someone else can steal them and sell them. not sure what should happen if your crops are about to be damaged. maybe a neighbor can harvest and take 50% of the profit.

@toiletpaper what do you think of blavatsky, I have been listening to some people lately talking about earlier occult movements and it was shocking (though it should not have been) that it was still basically just a moneymaking venture, like you start a group and you start selling it based on how many levels it has, every year or so you add another level to keep people paying
