The asbestos was discovered by a very alert participant during a large-scale renovation effort during which we were improving the electric installation, insulating the ceilings, replaced the kitchen and so on. This effort was finally becoming a bit more organised and in half the space we already replaced the softboard ceilings, so this discovery is to put it MILDLY an unwelcome surprise!
Asbestos of course is very risky to work with and we are not allowed to remove it ourselves; we will need to hire a specialised removal contractor. Despite an enormous financial gift from one of our participants we still need more money to close the finances.
Therefore we ask of you:
Help us with a gift! We will use it, up to the last cent, to get rid of this damned asbestos, and replace the ceiling with something non-toxic, more fire-proof and better insulated.
